David Bowie come into my room

I'm officially on school holidays for two long lazy weeks and I've already started procrastinating and putting off my homework, but I have been a little bit productive...since I first saw Cassie's plastic animal necklace on Skins I have wanted one desperately! So when my sister gave me some plastic sea creatures, I knew the time had come to make my own necklace, which is what I did (as you can see in the photos). If anyone is wanting to make their own, it's really easy, all you have to do is buy some plastic animals and with a hot metal skewer (I just held the end of the skewer in the flame of a lighter for a little while) poke a hole in them, then just thread them onto a length of wool or string with some colorful beads of your choosing. Easy.

All Hail the Prom Queen!!!

In Australia we don't have Prom (not at my high school at least) so for a friends dress up party I dressed up as a Prom Queen, and I have to say that it was quite a lot of fun indeed and that a lot of my inspiration for the outfit -like the colours and the vibes- came from Hole's Celebrity Skin film clip, which needless to say I absolutely love!

I've also included some pictures of the "tools" I used to transform myself into Prom Royalty: make-up, jewelry, perfume, shimmer powder, nail stickers, etc.

A Love Letter...

I have never been in love, but I imagine that unrequited love is a lot like my relationship (or lack there of) with high end fashion. I'm only a high school girl, but my passion for art and music and clothing and the many kinds of beauty that this world and the people in it have to offer, is nothing short of all-consuming. I could write thousands of word about the music, books and films that inspire me, but for the moment I want to focus purely on fashion, which in some ways manages to combine all aspects of art and architecture into one.

It has taken a number of years for me to realize just how much fashion and the creative expression behind it, means to me. I have spent God knows how many hours pouring over issues of Vogue and Russh, learning to familiarize myself with the characteristics of designers like Christopher Bailey and Karl Lagerfeld. Learning how to pronounce brands like Givenchy and Balenciaga. And above all learning to appreciate the wonderful details of designs by Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Miuccia Prada. It has been a long and meaningful journey of discovery and has helped me establish my own fashion identity.

I know no satisfaction like the one I feel after putting together a particularly excellent outfit, except perhaps the satisfaction of finding an amazing piece of clothing that seems like it was made just for me. Fashion primarily inspires happiness and creativity within me.

It is with bated breath and as much patience as I can muster, that I wait for the day when my relationship with fashion can stop being one sided and I can afford my very own Channel handbag, Burberry trench coat and Judith Leiber gown. Until then I amuse myself with blogs, magazines and fantasies.

Love is in the air

Tomorrow is Valentine's day, so for the occasion I baked some pink love heart shaped cookies for me and my friends to enjoy at school. As well as baking I went to a friend's party where I had a lot of fun and did a lot of dancing. I wore what I call my princess dress which is pretty and pink and ruffled, over the top I wore my new sweater which says "jesus the rock that doesnt roll" needless to say I think it's pretty cool.

Come and Go...

Today, just like the last four days, I have been trying to get through all of my holiday homework in between watching episodes of Gossip Girl. Today however is a special day because one of my sisters is coming back from South America where she has been traveling for the past six months. I can't wait to see her! this is what I'll be wearing when I greet her at the airport:
