ho ho ho

Going to stay in Melbourne with my sister for the few days before Christmas, this is what I'll be wearing.
It'll be good to get out of the house, because so far all I've accomplished these holidays is to re-watch the first season of True Blood (which is awesome but I need to spend time with real people) and read a couple chapters of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for school.
Hopefully staying at my sister's house will make me feel like I'm getting more done, even if I'm not...

Think Pink

This whole post pretty much revolves around being a stereotypical girly-girl. I grabbed a whole bunch of pink things from around my room and pulled some pink clothes out of my wardrobe and then went a little crazy with my digital camera. I wouldn't say I'm completely "into" the color pink, but I often go through phases and it was a lot of fun dressing up and posing and taking plenty of photos. Needless to say I didn't have much else to do on the day these photos were taken...

A teenage twist on chic...

I always find that the perfect outfit takes time and planning. I like know exactly what I'm going to wear on any occasion at least the day before, today was no exception. My best friend and I had the most lovely day in Melbourne shopping (as usual) and we went to the museum, which was interesting and a lot of fun.
the outfit that I wore was a mix between air hostess and trashy youth, well the skirt was trashy youth and everything else was simple and clean cut. but I was immensely satisfied with this outfit because the colors all went so well together and with my make up, especially the red lipstick and the red in my scarf. the mix of vintage paired with a plain white T and the ripped up skirt all worked out very nicely indeed.
the perfect outfit for the perfect day!

Birthday cake is the best kind of cake

This Saturday my cousins had a party for their birthdays (which are 2 days apart) and so my best friend and I went to the party together after a day of shopping (I didn't buy anything).
Near the party was a little park complete with playground where we spent a good part of the night taking photos. I wore one of my many floral dresses, which I purchased from my local op shop for $5, and I wore my high heels.

it shouldn't be cold outside!

Last Saturday I went to see one of my favorite bands live with some friends. Oh Mercy were doing a free show in Melbourne and it was amazing! I can't wait for their new album, but aside from the music I also went shopping and I bought this lovely yellow dress from danger field.
this Saturday I wore my new yellow dress even though it was unseasonably cold and raining for spring-time and the dress isn't exactly warm, so I had to layer up with gloves, a jacket, a cardigan and a scarf!
but it was still an enjoyable day going vintage shopping with my sister and her friend. I didn't buy anything (strange but true) but I saw so many beautiful things, still the day was exhausting and by the time we had gone to every shop I was ready for bed.

tick tock

I had a busy day today, in between reading and going out for a nice lunch I also went to the optometrist, the dentist and to work.
It was a good day though because I wore my Doc Martens (which I am sad to admit I have neglected for a while now) and I used a new little tye-dye handbag that my Aunt bought me back for Croatia a couple of weeks ago, I am rapidly falling in love with it!

story time

today I spent literally $100 on books and magazines, I consider it completely worth it though because now I can spend the rest of my holidays reading and relaxing.

holiday

today is the second day of my holidays and so far I have done nothing and it has been wonderful. A couple of days ago however I did go to the op-shop where I bought the amazing cream cardigan that I am wearing in the picture, it is stitched with lots of tiny little pearls and is so soft and warm that I barely take it off.

I also bought a handbag for $2 and a whole stack of old National Geographic magazines dated as far back as the 50s. they are full of pictures and articles which I have been devouring instead of doing anything really productive like homework, but I feel it's worth it.
I'll do something worthwhile tomorrow...maybe.

alarm!

this weekend I went to Melbourne and visited my sister again, we didn't have plans to do anything exciting, but I felt like dressing up anyway, so I wore my new high heels and red lipstick. This was the first time I had worn the heels (which match my handbag perfectly) and by the end of the day my feet were in agony :(

whilst in Melbourne my sister and I looked at some op-shops and bookstores, but sadly neither of us bought anything. It was still fun though and we went back to her house and listened to music and ate cheese balls.

Student free day

even though today is Monday there is no school for some reason or another, but instead of putting my long weekend to socializing use I have just been lounging around home and catching up on homework. Today I have work though which requires me to dress in something other than Pajamas. this is what I came up with...

it's not the greatest photo with the light coming in from the window, but i kind of like it and you can still get the general idea of the outfit, black coat, black socks, pink dress.

this one is more clear but you can't really see the knee high socks which are my favorite part of the outfit, the pink dress isn't one I normally wear, but lately I've been really into the color pink.

an alien in the world of fashion blogs

Well maybe not quite an alien...for a while now I have been obsessed with various fashion blogs which I read religiously, and I have always been obsessed with fashion.
My name is Giacobba and I'm a 16 year old high school girl from a town near Melbourne, Australia called Kyneton or K-Town for short, I devour books and magazines at an alarming rate and I draw and sew and write and now I officially blog too!
Though my blog there's no such place as face is mostly going to be fashion orientated I will also post things about art and music and films as well as the clothes that I buy and wear or covet and dream about. I love all kinds of fashion styles from grunge to indie and vintage to designer (even though I can't really afford designer clothes) but I can't say that I have one particular style myself, however my style philosophy is to always overdress and experiment and play dress-up with your clothes and feel confident in what you wear.

This is what I wore today when I went to Melbourne to visit my older sister, it was the first time I wore this dress and my sister described it as "faded" and "80's", naturally I took this as a compliment. Purple is a colour that I tend to favour when picking my outfits and apparently I favour florals too because I realized this morning that I have about five other floral dresses and a couple of floral tops and skirts as well, so the dress being pale purple and floral, was a perfect choice.

I teamed the dress with some pearls and a new pair of black paisley tights - which you can sort of make out in the picture - and a warm black jacket because it is after all still cold and winter-y in Melbourne even though the sun was out all day.
